Error

Office 365 users encounter a “No Logged on Office Users are configured for Information Rights Management (IRM)” errors.

 

Symptom & temporary fix

An account error is noted in the Office application’s account page. Fixing/switching account (using same user credentials) may restore functionality for some time. However the issue may return.

Solution

  1. Backup your Windows Registry.

    Please consult the following Support article for help regarding the procedure -322756

  1. Navigate to the following registry subkey:

    Office 2016:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\Identity

    Office 2013:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\Identity

  2. Right-click the entry, and then select New.
  3. Add a new DWORD value to the registry called NoDomainUser, and then set it to a value of1.
